Stalking
Stalking involves moving discreetly to locate and approach game (often roe deer, chamois, mouflon, red deer, or wild boar) before shooting. Therefore, equipment must prioritize silence, discretion, observation, and safety. Here's the essential gear:
1. Discreet and Silent Clothing
Natural colors/camouflage adapted to the environment (forest, mountain, plain).
Silent fabrics (avoid irritating materials).
Lightweight, thorn-resistant jacket.
Flexible hunting trousers for silent walking.
Thermal layers if hunting early in the morning or in cold weather.
Tip: Choose breathable clothing, as stalking often involves long walks.
2. Appropriate Footwear
Waterproof hunting boots.
Flexible, grippy soles for silent walking.
Good ankle support if the terrain is uneven.
3. Hunting Backpack
A small, discreet backpack (20-30 L) containing:
Water and snacks
Hunting knife
Gloves
Small first aid kit
Headlamp
Golden Rule of Stalking:
Spot the game before it sees, hears, or smells you.
