Since the early 19th century, cotton moleskin has been the fabric of choice for manufacturers of hardwearing, comfortable and good-looking workwear. And no wonder – tightly woven, yet luxuriously soft to the touch, it is hugely durable and windproof. Its main drawback? Once wet, it loses its insulating properties and takes an absolute age to dry. Ridgeline’s new Moleskin Tech-Knit Supreme, by contrast, offers all the upsides of cotton moleskin, with none of the downsides. It’s a knitted fabric made from, as you’d expect, 47% cotton. The difference? We’ve added 7% nylon and 46% polyester, for a generous 380gsm weight. Compared to regular cotton moleskin, it’s tougher, faster-drying, more wind resistant and, for a given weight, significantly warmer. In short, it’s much better. And then some.
