Alan Paine

Alan Paine

When Tweedchasse was created in September 2011, Alan Paine was one of the first brands distributed by us. This house was founded in 1907 by William Paine, in Godalming, Surrey, England. He started making cable knit sweaters himself using a machine he found in a warehouse. The case started to pick up steam. William's sweaters have taken on color, attracting more customers. During the decade 1920-1930, the Prince of Wales who would become Edward VIII fell in love with Paine products. He becomes the most prestigious patron. In 1940, the company made sweaters for the British army. It has 400 employees in Godalmaming and 200 in Wales. In the 1950s, it was William's son, Alan, who took over. The company will be renamed Alan Paine, the name "Godalming" being considered difficult to pronounce by American customers.

The company passed through the hands of different owners before landing in the lap of James Hinton, in 2006, still owner today. He is also a former member of the house since he joined Alain Paine in 1986 as a sales representative. A nice social climb.

Today Alan Paine offers one of the most extensive collections on the market. Its English style, chic and timeless does not suffer from any dispute. Its offer is impressive while remaining very qualitative. If you like tweed, you will be served! For you, Tweedchasse has selected shooting vests, knickers, caps, coats, sweaters. All for young and old. Something to delight the whole family! So you know what you have to do...
