How to care for my boots
Blundstones are built to last, but caring for them is essential to prolong their life and shine.
Made from a variety of leather finishes, suede and nubuck, each requires specific care to keep them clean. Keeping the soles of your Blundstone boots clean is an essential part of maintaining your boots.
Caring for your leather boots
Caring for your leather boots is easy and will help to prolong their life, follow these steps:
Remove any dirt from your boots using a soft bristle brush or damp cloth and allow your boots to air dry. Make sure your boots are not exposed to direct sunlight or near a radiator as this will dry out the leather.
Apply a leather polish or cream to maintain them. If you are using a shoe polish for the first time, test it on an inconspicuous area of the boot to see if it changes the colour or appearance.
If you choose to use a shoe polish, apply a small amount of the leather cleaner to a cloth or shoe polish brush and rub the shoe in a circular motion.
Wipe off any residue and let dry.
Caring for Suede Leather
Caring for your suede boots is easy and will help extend their life, follow these steps:
Use a suede brush to remove any surface stains or dirt.
If you have scuffs, you can remove them with a pencil eraser. Simply rub the eraser over the scuff and wipe away any rubber debris.
Next, dampen a suede brush with a little water and pour in a small amount of suede cleaner. Then clean the shoe, paying particular attention to any particularly stained areas.
Blot the shoes with a clean towel to remove excess moisture and allow them to air dry.
Once dry, apply a water and stain repellent spray to the shoes to extend their life. Some suedes are best treated before wearing if they have not been previously treated.
It is advisable to waterproof your boots regularly to protect the leather from stains. If the leather gets wet, allow it to dry naturally before cleaning or using cleaning products.
Nubuck Care
Caring for your nubuck boots is easy and will help extend their life, follow these steps:
Use a dry nubuck cloth to remove any surface dirt. Then brush gently with a nubuck brush. Use circular motions, making sure not to spend more than a few seconds on any one area.
If you have scuffs, remove them with a pencil eraser. Simply rub the eraser over the scuff and wipe away the rubber debris. You can also use a nubuck cleaning spray solution and then wipe the area with a nubuck cloth. It is important to follow the instructions on these products and ensure that they are tested on a small area before applying more widely.
